Inter Mirifica was established in 1989 as a Roman Catholic media apostolate located in the Washington Archdiocese. It is a not-for-profit organization listed in the Official Catholic Directory with approval by the United States Catholic Conference. All of Inter Mirifica's activities and programs are in consonance and conformity with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The purpose of Inter Mirifica is to promote the Gospel using the modern means of social communication. We publish home study courses written by John A. Hardon, S.J., who is an author in residence in Detroit, Michigan. |
Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.Founder of the Marian Catechists and world-renowned theologian, Father holds a Master's Degree in philosophy from Loyola University and a doctorate in theology from the Gregorian University in Rome. He has taught at the Jesuit School of Theology in Chicago and is an author-in-residence at the University of Detroit. He is the author of The Catholic Catechism, Modern Catholic Dictionary, Pocket Catholic Dictionary, Pocket Catholic Catechism, Q & A Catholic Catechism, Treasury of Catholic Wisdom, the Catholic Lifetime Reading Plan and many other Catholic books. | |
The Marian CatechistsAt the behest of the Holy See, an apostolate founded by Fr. Hardon whose purpose is evangelization and catechesis. Members must undergo a process of formation of approximately two years in both doctrine and spirituality as well as to fulfill several daily spiritual obligations such as Mass, spiritual reading, Rosary and Stations of the Cross. They are engaged in many and varied endeavors ranging from writing and publishing to secretarial work. | |
The Marian Catechists' Writers GuildThe Marian Catechist Writers Apostolate is committed to serving the Magisterium by invigorating the stream of excellent Catholic writing. It will review manuscripts for fidelity and graceful expression. Manuscripts that pass will be designated Marian Catechist Writers Apostolate manuscripts. Publishers who work with us will recognize that Marian Catechist Writers Apostolate manuscripts are consistently excellent and will focus on them as candidates for publication. Home Study Catechetical CoursesWritten by Fr. Hardon, two are doctrinal and one is in spirituality and covers seven Masters of the Spiritual Life. The doctrinal courses, a 16-lesson Basic and a 36-lesson Advanced Course, are based on the new Catechism of the Catholic Church and follow the four pillars of the Catholic Faith. All Marian Catechists are required to complete these courses but they are available to anyone who wants to know and understand the riches of their Catholic Faith. | |
